i never thought searching for the right job would parallel dating to find the right guy. it is almost eerie how similar they appear in the usual customs you follow and the feelings you feel during the interviewing/dating experience. i've taken note on the following (but please add your own):
both parties have to look their best, since first impressions are vital.
you don't want to look overly eager or desperate, but want to appear extremely interested.
you need to appear attentive and eager to get to know the other's viewpoints and what they are passionate about. (and then secretly analyze if it aligns with yours, or if it could be complimentary to yours).
both need to get to know one another and handle social chit-chat without appearing awkward or nervous. in short, both shoot the small talk in order to get down to business.
both groups are always feeling, "did they like me? should i tell them i like them? how much should i tell them i like them before they commit first?"
both groups are waiting to hear back from the other party. should i call? is it too soon to call? when is the deadline for when they are no longer interested?
Jamie Cullum got it right. I bet 99.9% of 20somethings can relate to his jam. this song definitely displays 20s-style angst.
