sweet home virginia

bodo's. christians. take it away. wayside. arch's.

the previous 48 hours was spent in the majestic charlottesville, va soaking up life as an alum. i devoured and savored the incredible foods of charlottesville, va with my pals christina and anni. the weather was sunny and the air was crisp.

we relived our footsteps to class, to our dorms, tailgating, and memories of first meeting each other. i met christina during my second year from a distance. she had the most gorgeous curly hair i'd ever seen. she had cute ribbons in her hair and knew everyone around her. in short, she was the regina george of UVA to me. little did i know i'd find out she felt completely opposite of anything regina-esque and was searching for long-lasting friendship just like any normal 2nd year. anni i met randomly my second year as well. our mutual friend, raeanne, invited me to join their table in the cafeteria because...i didn't have any friends. believe it people, i was extremely shy at one moment in time and super insecure. (aren't we all?) a short discussion of anni's religious views on facebook (simple love) would be what i remembered from that lunch and thought she was badass. and now look at us--a whopping four years later and we are the closest of friends.

below is a picture of me, raeanne, & anni 3 years ago. and reminds me that many things have changed. i no long have an absurd perm, raeanne is now married, and anni chopped off her locks for the 2nd year in a row for beautiful lengths.

bottom-line is the previous 4 years at my alma mater affected me in ways i never saw coming. homecoming is a great reminder that change isn't just a great thing, it's inevitable and must be welcomed. during those first few years of college i was paralyzed by the fear of the unknown. it's taken me a while, but i'd like to think my perspective of change has grown exponentially. i'm so thankful that God is constantly changing me and one thing i'll never be is stale.

and at the end of the day don't ever take life too seriously.
